1. Menu OPEN opens a new image for editing. SAVE saves the image displayed under the FINAL tab. Tips: If you'd like to
see THUMBNAILS in the file view, simply click the
FOLDER ICON in the upper right corner of the
dialog box, and select "Thumbnails" from the drop down menu. The PRO version of Seamless Texture Generator allows you to load DDS and PSD files! The PREVIEW PANE displays various views of the texture in progress. The preview pane consists of a number of tabs, and a preview window. The tabs display different views of the texture in-progress. These views are as follows: ORIGINAL Displays the original, unaltered image. TRANSFORMED Displays the image after it has been perspective deformed. ADJUSTED Displays the image after lighting adjustments have been applied. FINAL Displays the final image after it has been made seamless. TILED-TRANSFORMED Displays the TRANSFORMED image tiled in a 3x3 configuration. TILED-FINAL Displays the FINAL image tiled in a 3x3 configuration. Tips: You can ZOOM the view in and out by holding SHIFT while clicking the LEFT and RIGHT mouse buttons! The SCROLLBARS for certain views are LOCKED, so that those views move togther. This makes it easy to compare the original and final texture. The QUAD DEFORMER GADGET allows you to CROP, SCALE, ROTATE, and DEFORM an image. The deform operation is perspective correct, meaning you can use it to REMOVE PERSPECTIVE in your image. For example, if you place the CORNERS of the QUAD
at the corners of a BUILDING, you can
rotate the building
facade so it faces forward, and the windows of the building will retain their expected seperation. Of course, this works best when there isn't too much perspective in the original image, and it cannot correct for camera lens distortion. Clicking in the preview pane will allow you to DRAG the VERTICES of the quad. SHADOW & HIGHTLIGHT removal allows you to EVEN out the BRIGHTNESS over large areas of the image. This slider allows you to control how strong this effect is. This slider allows you to control the SIZE of the area which the shadow & highlight removal effect operates. Tips: A lower value here creates a "stronger" effect, but generally, the BEST value will be between 16 and 64. Setting the value too low will remove smaller hotspots, but will also create a lot of ugly halo ARTIFACTS. These sliders allow you to control the HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL blend radius. The blend radius is the width or height of the area near the edge of the image which is blended with the other side of the image. Tips: Generally, the default value of 1.0 (Which specifies a blend from the EDGE to the CENTER of the image) will work well, but you can sometimes get better results if you reduce these values, and you may wish to set one of thesse sliders to ZERO to blend certain textures on ONE AXIS ONLY if the texture is only intended to be tiled in one direction. These textfields allow you to enter the size you want the final texture to be. The BASIC version of Seamless Texture Generator is limited to a maximum texture resolution of 512x512. Tips: LOWERING these values initially will allow you to quickly preview the final appearance of the texture. The PRO version of Seamless Texture Generator allows you to create textures of any size. The MAKE TEXTURE button recalculates the current texture. The STATUS BAR will show the current stage of this process. When processing is complete, the program will automatically display the FINAL image. Tips: You can press the SPACEBAR to trigger the MAKE TEXTURE button. If you do not want the program to switch to the FINAL image once processing is complete, you may hold down the SHIFT key while clicking MAKE TEXTURE, or pressing SPACE. |
